About Us

The late Shuji Takiguchi, born June 17, 1947, was a respected figure in the jewelry industry. He was renowned for his integrity and expertise in sourcing pearls. Following his stint in the pearl industry, he founded Kata Manufacturing in the late 80s. Kata Manufacturing became a thriving and reputable business for over 35 years, located in the bustling jewelry district of Downtown Los Angeles. Shuji's straightforward character and direct communication style were memorable to all who interacted with him. He passed away on January 14, 2021, due to COVID-19 and asthma complications, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

Before his passing, Shuji entrusted Pedro Galvez Guevara, his long-time right-hand polisher, with his business. Pedro, a Salvadoran immigrant, served in his country's war before migrating to the US. Shuji saw Pedro as a son and worked with him for 16 years. He guided him in the trade and instilled in him the importance of dedication and hard work. When Shuji fell ill, Pedro stayed by his side until he passed away. Before undergoing anesthesia, Shuji informed Pedro that he would inherit everything in the business. Despite Pedro's reluctance, Shuji said it was his wish. After consulting with his legal team, Shuji's wife granted Pedro ownership of the business. Pedro took the reins and is now the proud owner of the thriving jewelry business that Shuji built.

Sergio I Guevara, Pedro's son, also had a close relationship with Shuji. Growing up, Sergio spent time with Shuji and his crew, learning the ropes of the trade. With Shuji's passing, Pedro was left uncertain about the business's future, and Sergio stepped in to help. He joined the team as a partner, and together they formed an LLC, now known as P & S Jewelry Company Ltd. Liability Co.

Sergio has a passion for calligraphy, writing, and quality drinks, often combining all three. He is an avid sushi lover and adores his furry companions.
